Partnerships/Collaborations within the region

A number of population and development issues are common to Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia:

•  Reproductive Health (specifically the need to build capacity and develop legislation)

•  The needs of youth and adolescents regarding reproductive health and services

•  The need for better data for development

With UNFPA's support, a number of regional initiatives/partnerships have already taken place:

•  Peer education for young people (Y-Peer) (Armenia-Georgia-Azerbaijan-Turkey)

•  Social Marketing (Armenia-Georgia)

•  Reproductive Health Crisis Management (Azerbaijan-Georgia)

•  Drafting Reproductive Health Law (Armenia-Georgia)

•  Capacity building on Data Collection and Analysis (Azerbaijan-Turkey)

UNFPA is also working on several further regional initiatives for Turkey and South Caucasus:

•  A EC-Reproductive Health Initiative for Youth in South Caucasus (submitted)

•  A regional initiative to reduce reproductive cancer in South Caucasus (planning stage)

•  A regional initiative on promoting gender rights (planning stage)

•  An intern rotation/exchange program among four country offices (planning stage)
