How UNJP Got Started

Turkey has made several reforms to enhance the women's rights and also contributed to the UN gender projects.

Several successful projects conducted by the UN have contributed significantly to a better understanding of gender and women's rights issues in Turkey. However, to achieve a lasting and cumulative result for gender issues, an umbrella programme was essential.

United Nations Joint Programme (UNJP) has been drafted and implemented with a view to outline the procedures to bring local governments, NGOs and private sector representatives together to create projects and a work environment that will promote women's rights and engage women in political decision making process in greater numbers.

UNJP will be reformatted for implementation accross the country, after the evaluation of the results of the current programme.
