“Pomegranate Arils: Stronger Young Women, a Happier Future”

The Pomegranate Arils Project will be implementing by UNFPA under the leadership of Boyner Holding and Group Companies and with the partnership of People Management Association of Turkey (PERYÖN), Social Services and Children Protection Institute of the Prime Ministry (SHÇEK), and Turkish Employment Organization (İŞKUR) between 2009 and 2013.

The project is developed to support 18-24 years old young women, who grew up in orphanages to get employed and to start their own life, contribute to the development of vocational skill of these young women and the solution of the problems caused by gender discrimination.

The main purposes of the project are;

  • To prevent the poverty of women
  • To increase the employment of women
  • To prevent violence against women
  • To struggle against social exclusion
  • To have women having self-confidence
  • To increase joint activities amongst civil society / public / private sector

It will be also supported by the Ministry of National Education and will be assisted by the Non-Governmental Organizations which are actively working for Women, Youth and Education.

The aim is providing preparatory trainings on empowerment and employment; mentorship, vocational guidance, internship and support for the employment of the young women in the target group to help them gaining their economic independence, stand their own feet, defend their rights for being self confident individuals.
