Making RH Services available to University Students Project name: TUR/03/01/13-02/P13 : Introduction of Model Youth RH Services at Selected Universities Budget: USD 222,500 Timeline: January 2002-December 2005 What's the situation? Adolescents and young adults constitute a significant segment of the population in Turkey and available data indicate that this segment is expanding. University students are covered by a free health care system, offered mainly in Medico-social Centres (MCs) at each university. However, Reproductive Health (RH) counselling and services are not provided in these centres. Since university students already are, or soon will be sexually active, it is expected that integrating the provision of RH services into these existing services will have a positive impact on their sexual health and behaviour. What’s our mission? Our mission is to contributing to development of adolescent RH services in Turkey, to address adolescents' RH and sexual health needs and to developing appropriate models for the provision of RH services for adolescents and youth. How is UNFPA doing this?
Who are our partners? Human Resource Development Foundation International Children's Centre How will Turkey benefit? Meeting the health and educational needs of this segment of Turkish society is essential for the country's social and economic development. It will also make an impact on overall population policies.
