Objectives of the Programme: The UNFPA Internship Programme
offers graduate-level or master students the opportunity
to acquire direct exposure to UNFPA activities. It is
designed to complement development-oriented studies with
practical experience in various aspects of technical assistance.
By working under the supervision of a senior staff member
at UNFPA Turkey Office, interns gain understanding of
multilateral assistance in population activities and learn
how UNFPA operates. During their Internships Interns will
experience how to be a UN staff while learning about UNFPA
mandate. At UNFPA/Turkey Interns will find the opportunity
to utilize their theoretical knowledge with practical
experience through various work assignments and will have
the experience of working in an international organization.
Description: Although the duration of the Internships are normally
for one month and available throughout the year, they may vary in
length according to the availability and academic requirements of
the intern, as well as the needs of UNFPA/Turkey.
Maximum 1 interns will work in the Country Office for each month.
- University graduate or master student preferably in social sciences.
- Written and spoken proficiency in English.
- Excellent computer knowledge.
- Ability to adapt to new environments and to establish
and maintain good working relations with individuals
of different cultural backgrounds.
Financial Support and Medical Coverage: The UNFPA Internship programme
is on a non-remunerative basis. The intern must make his/her own
coverage of living expenses and travel costs. No daily stipend will
be given to Interns during Internship. UNFPA will also not accept
responsibility for costs or fatality arising from illness or accidents
occurred during the internship.
Employment Prospects: The UNFPA Internship Programme is not connected
with employment and there is no expectancy of such. Interns cannot
apply for posts advertised internal UNFPA staff during the period
of Internship.
Obligations and Attendance: At all times the Intern must conduct himself/herself
in a manner compatible with the responsibilities of a holder of
UNFPA Internship. Attendance is compulsory for all Interns during
their Internship. The Intern shall provide early notice in case
of illness or other unavoidable circumstances, which might prevent
him/her from fulfilling his/her obligations.
Confidentiality and Publication of Information: The Intern must
respect the confidentiality of information that she/he collects
or is exposed to at UNFPA. Without the explicit written authorization
of the UNFPA Representative no reports or papers may be published
based on the information obtained during the programme.
